Project Description: This 126,000 sq. ft. federal U.S. Courthouse in Huntsville contains two district courtrooms, one magistrate courtroom, one special proceedings courtroom, one bankruptcy courtroom, six judges’ chambers, and a walkout basement. The facility also houses U.S. Marshals Service spaces and a full suite of U.S. District Court offices, including probation, pretrial services, divisional clerk’s offices, executive clerk’s offices, and grand jury accommodations. Designed in a neoclassical style, the three-story courthouse features a prominent pedimented entry portico framed by gently arcing symmetrical wings.
Scope of Work: Our scope included cold-formed metal framing, non-structural interior framing, gypsum wall board assemblies, ceiling work, EIFS, and GFRG column covers.
Special Challenges: Each courtroom and chamber in this building features its own distinct design and architectural elements. This included complex ceiling systems such as coffered and barrel ceilings incorporating acoustical plaster and high-end finishes. Our team delivered detailed interior and exterior assemblies that upheld the architectural design intent while meeting the project’s rigorous performance standards, including achieving the high Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings required in federal courthouses.

Before coming to Brasington Bailey in 2019, Doug held several positions with a large general contractor including Field Engineer Superintendent and Self Perform Trades Manager. From sales and cost management to estimating and production management, Doug’s insight helps our company understand the challenges that our customers face and offer practical solutions to positively impact their bottom line. Doug is an especially valuable resource during pre-construction planning, assisting with budgeting early on to minimize surprises and unforeseen costs later.

Prior to co-founding Brasington Bailey in 2013, Eric had a long-standing career in the construction industry. He was first introduced to the fundamentals of construction at a young age by working with his father. In the early 1990’s, while attending the Southern College of Technology in Marietta, he went to work for one of Atlanta’s large specialty contractors.
Today, Eric leads Brasington Bailey on its mission of being the drywall subcontractor of choice for its customers. He is dedicated to building and maintaining successful working relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors and employees. It is these relationships that have made Brasington Bailey the organization it is today.
